Hi, I'm Mike Harlow. Welcome to my online portfolio.

As I've never been one for personal social networking, this site was created to provide a brief online overview of my work and to share my thoughts and experiences for realizing strategic, innovation, design and leadership outcomes that create lasting transformation.

If you asked me to describe myself in a sentence, I would say that I am 'a solution architect specializing in design innovation and leveraging technology to create lasting positive change. I have a focus on meaningful results and leaving the world better than when I arrived'.

Recently I was asked to provide a brief work summary for a bio, so I created the graph of my diverse portfolio that I included here.

Starting when we 'survived Y2K' (Jan 1, 2000), I have led the solution design, execution and implementation of over 80 technology, business transformation, business intelligence and change management solutions. I’ve held leadership roles as company owner, corporate executive and management consultant spanning the private and public sector.

Regardless of my role or the industry, a pattern emerged in my approach. I start with deep exploration and understanding, uncover and validate innovation opportunities, craft clarity, and creating compelling and achievable visions of the future. With an equal interest in execution and design, I then use these compelling future visions to align teams, create momentum, architect the detailed solutions, create clear project phases, and lead project teams doing the hard work that achieves the vision.

I am driven to innovate and execute with high efficiency and quality. From working on so many diverse and complex software projects, I gravitated to a 'show-don't-tell' approach similar to the visual design processes used for vehicles, products and buildings. I call this approach 'Lead by Design' and provide a quick overview of it here. This approach has yielded an over 95% success rate in business transformation projects.

I'm always interested in meeting others with meaningful problems and desire to make lasting positive change. If you would like to connect, feel free to contact me.
